NWS Lake Charles weather update: 230 pm Thu 7.18.19

PRESS RELEASE — There will be small rain chances through this weekend, before increasing next week due to a rare July cold front. We could see as much as 1 to 3 inches of rain next Monday through Thursday. In addition, there is a small chance for strong to severe storms.
Temperatures will run near normal for the next week.
The tropics will be quiet through early next week.
Major river flooding is occurring on the Calcasieu River at Old Town Bay. Moderate river flooding is occurring on Bayou Nezpique near Basile, Bayou des Cannes near Eunice, and the Atchafalaya at Morgan City. Minor flooding is occurring on the Sabine at Deweyville, the west fork of the Calcasieu at Sam Houston Jones SP, Calcasieu River at Kinder and Salt Water Barrier, Mermentau at Mermentau, and Vermilion at Surrey Street.
