On Wednesday, May 22, a signing ceremony was held for those VHS students going into the military. Speaker was VHS principal James McDowell, a military veteran. The event was organized by senior assistant principal James Parsley and featured two recruiters from the military as well as the student signers.  VHS senior Jacob McWherter played the national anthem, and parents and guests joined Boy Scout Troop 220 in the pledges.
