ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats took down the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears with a final of 44-24 in Bobcat Gym Tuesday night in District 22-4A action.

The Lady Bobcats’ win pushed them to 2-2 in 22-4A play while the Lady Bears dropped to 2-2.

Paris Fregia lead the Lady Bobcats in scoring with 12 points, six coming from behind the arc.

Emmi Lummus had five points, four rebounds and two steals for the Lady Bobcats while Jayme Deutsch added five points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The first quarter of the contest was dominated on both sides of the court by the defense on both teams. Forced missed shots and turnovers plagued both squads early. The first quarter ended with Orangefield in the lead 7-3.

After a slow offensive first quarter for the Bobcats, Fregia helped Orangefield with an early long-range three-pointer to set the pace. The Bobcats went on a 16-6 run during the second quarter pushing their lead even further. After the first half, Orangefield led Little Cypress-Mauriceville 23-9.

The Bobcat defense stood strong throughout the third quarter only allowing five points total in the quarter. Fregia tacked on another five points along with another three from downtown. The Lady Bobcats lead through the third 34-14.

Going on a 10-2 run early in the fourth quarter put the game way out of reach for the Lady Bears, only making the last few minutes of the game all but routine work the Bobcats. The defense continued to hold its ground for Orangefield as it had all night.

Jacie Miller paced the LC-M attack with seven points.

The Lady Bobcats will visit West Orange-Stark Friday while the Lady Bears host Silsbee.
