Parental Care Ministries (PCM) Ugandan Choir will perform at 6 p.m. Wednesday at North Orange Baptist Church.

This marks the fourth tour for the choir, which usually is scheduled for the Spring.

“The choir has been in Orange during each tour,” Justin Hayes, the organization’s Director of Ministry Operations, said. “Orange is my hometown.”

PCM partnered with North Orange Baptist Church, Crossroads in Vinton and Community Christian School to bring the choir to the area.

“The choir ranges in age from 10 to adults,” Hayes said. “This tour includes a teacher, a graduated student, the founders children and the music director.”

The theme of the 2016 tour is Run to Win.

“Hundreds of individuals and families have traveled with our ministry to Uganda and have experienced the true joy of worshiping with the children there,” explains Justin Hayes. “It has been the goal of PCM for years to be able to bring that joy to the people of the United States. Whether the choir is singing, dancing, or showing their skills on the drums we hope that people will feel the love they are conveying. Despite difficult upbringings including lack of food, unclean water, or being orphaned; these children are able to share the hope that they have for an abundant life through Jesus Christ. That is why we have called this tour Run to Win.”

The choir tour will kick off in Grand Rapids, MI where PCM has many supporters and work its way down through Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida before completing the tour in Texas where PCM USA began. Parental Care Ministries is a non-profit organization currently serving Jesus Christ in southwest Uganda. The ministry began in 1997 by Pastor Emmanuel Nnyanzi and was founded in the United States by Mark and Monica Barret in 2008. PCM now operates five schools providing food, clothing and an education to over 1,800 orphans and needy children. The ministry has also found many other ways to be a part of what God is doing in Uganda through supporting a medical clinic, baby house, radio station, farm land, and churches.

Hayes has been a part of the organization for six years.

Last November, pastors from PCM were in Orange speaking on how the churches have grown to a network of more than 70 churches throughout Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and surrounding areas.

The Ugandan Choir will perform at 6 p.m. Wednesday at North Orange Baptist Church, located at 4775 North 16th Street in Orange. The concert is free.
