Archie W. Jones, 88, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 9, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Cove Baptist Church in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Travis Hood and Reverend Jeff Bell. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Hemphill, Texas, on May 3, 1928, he was the son of George Walton Jones and Mattie (Wilson) Jones. Archie was a member of Cove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was the last surviving charter member. He was a member of the Madison Lodge 126 AF and AM. Archie enjoyed reading and studying his bible, as well as fishing, hunting, and visiting nursing homes.

He retired from DuPont Sabine River Works after 38 years of service and he was a WWII Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 57 years, Archie Alline Jones; and his infant daughter, Carless Jean.

Archie is survived by his children, Marvin Moore, Deborah Fuchs and husband Ronnie, Doris Brown, and Mary McCoy and husband Frank; grandchildren, Amber and Ryan Brown, Jeremy Lane, Benson Brown, Amy and Wayne Tyler, David and Susanne Fuchs, and Megan McLemore; his great-grandchildren, Grace and Belinda Watson, Chloe, Melanie and Aaron Fuchs, Tate Tyler, Kathryn and Henry Brown, and Kade McLemore; and his siblings, Chalmers Walton Jones, Harold Jones and wife Loretta, Johnny Jones and wife Johnnie, and Rita Assen and husband Frank.
