Norma “Josephine” Crew, age 92, passed away in Austin, Texas, on March 23, 2024.
She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend.
Josephine was born November 13, 1931, to Joseph Wesley and Pauline Fitchett in Henderson, Texas, where she lived until 1942, when her family moved to Orange, Texas, for the war effort.
She graduated from Lutcher Stark High School, where she excelled at academics.
Josephine married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Crew, and they were married for almost 74 years.
She was also a graduate of Lamar University and taught school in the West Orange Cove Independent School District for more than 25 years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Orange, the Leaf and Petal Garden Club, and numerous bridge clubs.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert J. Crew.
She is survived by her sister, Frances Simmons of Austin, Texas; two sons, Robert Crew Jr. (wife, Eileen) and John Crew (wife, Vicki); niece, Kathryne Rehfuss (husband, Ron); granddaughter, Shannon Crew Feeney (husband, Conor); grandsons, Darin Crew (wife, Rebecca) and Brian Crew (wife, Delanie); and seven great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Orange.
