Response to Mr. Gordy in May 7-8, 2016 Orange Leader

In the 3rd paragraph, he states: “…available for public comment during the development of an environmental document which is already required by law.”

6th paragraph, he states: “Although it provides a platform for public comments,… designed to allow the general public to be a part of the decisions when it pertains to the expenditures of the state and local government ….. This would not hold true in this project since the funding is private and not public dollars.”

We can speak up, but no, we really can’t speak up.

5th paragraph “… allow for the introduction of private capital to begin a process that is designed to service a need that current transportation funding will not.” Seems someone came in and decided to fix something that local citizens did not perceive as needing to be fixed. However, someone stands to make money out of this, whether you need or want it or not!

8th paragraph “The best way to support – or not support – the project would be using it once it is built or choosing not to.” Then it is TOO LATE to protect our land, air quality and peaceful sounds/prevent noise pollution.

Mr. Gordy is a master of “double speak” says one thing then changes it later. His run-on sentences are difficult, if not impossible, to decipher. If the project doesn’t have firm plans, why is he spewing this sales pitch then saying it is too early to give firm information. Mr. Gordy advises “we suggest everyone stay involved in the process.” That’s one thing he said that might make sense.

It seems since he is “selling” a project, he should be paying for advertising space in our newspaper, not getting free “Opinion” space!
