Bears, Cardinals net 24-4A baseball wins

ORANGEFIELD — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears strolled past the Orangefield Bobcats 11-2 in District 24-4A as both teams now stand at 2-4 in district play.

Slade Green earned the win on the mound for the Bears. Mitchell Lee had a big home run for the Bears, who scored six runs in the top of the first inning.

The Bears finished with nine hits while the Bobcats had four.

For the Bobcats, Ryan Deutsch went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Payton Lathrop was 1-for-4 with a RBI and Johnny Armstrong was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

LC-M will host Hamshire-Fannett Friday while Orangefield travels to Silsbee.

BC boys 13, H-F 2

FANNETT — The Bridge City Cardinals unloaded on Hamshire-Fannett Tuesday night, cruising past the Longhorns 13-2 in six innings on the road in District 24-4A play.

The Cardinals pulled into a first-place tie with West Orange-Stark in the 24-4A standings at 5-1.

Tod McDowell got the win on the hill for the Redbirds.

Tanner Doiron was 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs while Justyn Romero belted a home run.

The Cardinals return to action Tuesday when they play host to LC-M.

In softball action Tuesday night, the Bridge City Lady Cardinals stayed perfect in 24-4A play with a 8-0 mark by blanking Hamshire-Fannett 11-0 in five innings.

The Silsbee Lady Tigers kept the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs winless in district by winning 15-5.

WO-S will visit Hardin-Jefferson Friday. Bridge City has a bye Friday and will host LC-M Tuesday.
