Lady Cardinals blank Silsbee

BRIDGE CITY – Getting some timely hits in the early innings and receiving a strong mound performance by sophomore Kassidy Wilbur, the Bridge City Lady Cardinals moved to 3-0 in District 24-4A play Tuesday night as they downed the Silsbee Lady Tigers 2-0 at Lady Cardinal Field.

Wilbur worked all seven innings for the Lady Cardinals, now 3-0 in district. She allowed just three hits while striking out 10 and walking one.

The Lady Cardinals picked up eight hits against Silsbee starter Braley Forse.

Bridge City will face a pivotal game today when they visit Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 7 p.m. The Lady Bears are also 3-0.

 

The Lady Cardinals scooted in a run in the bottom of the second.
Caitlin Denison ripped a leadoff double to centerfield and moved to
third with two outs on a Ashton Sezer groundout.
Denison motored home to score when Megan Sourdellia smacked a RBI
single up the middle past Forse for a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Baili Thibodaux reached on a leadoff
infield single. Faith Kaufman grounded out by Thibodaux went all the
way to third and promptly scored on a throwing error to make it 2-0.
Hannah Carpenter had a one-out single to shallow center but was left
stranded.

The Lady Tigers got a two-out hit from Kaitlin Hicks in the top of the
first but Wilbur fanned Bailey Root.
Hannah Carpenter roped a two-out single to shallow right for the Lady
Cardinals in the bottom of the first but Forse got Wilbur to ground
out.
The Lady Tigers got another two-out infield single in the top of the
second from Ashlyn Montgomery but Wilbur struck out April Rawson.
Sourdellia had a two-out single to left for BC in the bottom of the fourth.
in the bottom of the fifth, Kaufman roped a one-out single past third
and Carpenter got her third hit of the night with an infield single
but both were left stranded.
The Lady Tigers did threaten in the top half of the sixth.
Neely Smith slapped a one-out double to shallow rightfield and moved
to third on a groundout by Cheyenne Wright but BC got out of it when
catcher Abby Anderson made an excellent catch of a foul ball hit by
Hicks.
