Jefferson County Go Texan Committee hosts annual barbque cook-off

BEAUMONT — The Jefferson County Go Texan Committee, a subcommittee of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, will host its annual barbecue cook-off Apr. 8-9 at the Elk’s Lodge on Highway 90 in Beaumont.

The entry fee is $125 per team, and competition categories consists of jackpot pinto beans, chicken, pork ribs, and beef brisket.

A dinner, dance and auction will be held Friday night. Tickets for the dinner & dance are $10 and can be purchased from any Jefferson County Go Texan committee member or at the door.

Music will be provided by the award-winning Twangsters Union and promises to be a great night of music.

“This is a great opportunity for family, friends and colleagues of Jefferson Cunty to see how we support local students,” said Brain Abney, Jefferson County Go Texan Ambassador. “All local funds generated through this event, and others as well, help students with scholarship funds.”
