Orange County schools announce closures, delays for Friday and beyond

Due to severe weather and potential flooding Friday, West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District is closing school on Friday (May 3).

Additionally, district leaders want to remind school families that Monday is a district holiday.

Classes will resume on Tuesday (May 7).

Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District also announced “out an abundance of caution” the district would be closed Friday.

LCMCISD classes are to resume Monday (May 6).

In Vidor, due to ongoing rainfall and street flooding, all Vidor ISD schools will be closed Friday. Classes will resume on Monday as scheduled.

Out of an abundance of caution, Lamar State College Orange announced Friday that the campus will close all day Friday.

Those delaying the start by two hours on Friday are Bridge City ISD and Orangefield ISD.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will occur through Friday morning and into the afternoon hours.

A Flood Watch is posted through 7 p.m.

There are good chances for a break from the rainfall Friday night through Saturday.

Scattered thunderstorms again on Sunday. Rainfall amounts Sunday are uncertain.
