Free food, beverages and raffle ticket fun are planned during the grand opening celebration of Orange Recycling Center.

The event kicks off with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Thursday at the center, 4481 Texas-62, Orange, 77632.

The facility is located just north of Interstate 10 on Highway 62.

Company Director Pawan Kumar said the location has been open for three months.

“We want to let people know we have a local recycling center here now,” Kumar told Orange Newsmedia. “They don’t have to go far away. They can come and bring their stuff here and get the cash for it.

“I see a lot of houses and construction sites in Orange, and they have stuff in their back yard and front yard that can be recycled and get money for.”

Orange Recycling Center accepts all kind of metals — “any kind of metal you have,” Kumar says.

Operating hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Orange Recycling Center is an extension of the group’s other venture, Port Arthur Recycling Center, which is operational on Highway 365 in Port Arthur.

“We were excited to go to a different city and open a recycling center where we could collect all the stuff and bring it to our Port Arthur processing center,” Kumar said. “(Orange is) a collection center where we can collect from industry and local people, anything they want to recycle.

“It’s a good commercial area. It’s on I-10 and it’s close to Louisiana, too, so a lot of people bring materials to the site. There are also a lot of near-by small towns, where people can bring their materials here.”

According to Kumar, business and local awareness for Orange Recycling Center are growing with a great early reception from local residents.

“A lot of close-by neighbors have come there,” he said. “This is one of the cleanest yards you will see. We have concrete, a nice office and everything is secure. Ours is very clean and organized and in-and-out.”
