Orange Community Players is gearing up for the annual Young People’s Theater Workshop (YPTW) for this summer. With the concerns of COVID-19, the theater group will hold a one-day session for the workshop this year.
YPTW is open to ages 8 to 18 and a great opportunity to introduce the youth to the theater or for inspiring actors and actresses.
They will learn the basic of live theater, auditions and putting on a show all culminating in their putting on their own show for the community.
The one-day event will be held at the Orange Train Depot with instructors teaching dance, music and how to run a theater. Students will be in smaller groups as each participate in a ‘round robin’ of classes. The day will include a picnic lunch. The young actors will preform on October 3 during Depot Day.
To participate, it is $50 per student. Families with two or more are $40 each.

Remodeling and construction continue at the new home for the acting group. It’s former home in downtown Orange was destroyed during Hurricane Harvey.
Orange Community Players was originally founded as “Town Theatre” in 1950. Productions were held at Helen Carr Junior High School and Anderson Elementary School.
