August 13, 1947 – May 28, 2020

Mr. Tommy Joe Mann Sr., 72, of Vidor, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020. Tommy was born August 13, 1947 in Yuma, Arizona and lovingly raised by his parents Eva Jo (Ward) Shelander and Leisel “Lee” Truman Shelander. Tommy spent most of his life here in Texas, moving here from Arizona at the young age of 5. Despite being an only child, Tommy knew the value of family more than most. Tommy was the proud father of 3 sons, and a father figure, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and dog-dad to so many more.  There was little Tommy could not fix in his life and his career as a Pipefitter certainly demonstrated his proficiency at working with his hands. He loved working on cars and tinkering with anything that needed fixing. When not fixing things, he enjoyed fishing and caring for his beloved dogs Bonnie and Lil’ Red. Tommy was an honest, caring, and loving man and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Tommy’s memory are his sons: Tommy Joe Mann Jr. of Vidor, Gary Lee Mann and wife Jennifer of Vidor, and Gregory Randall Mann and wife Lisa Stanley of Vidor; his grandchildren: Ashley Mann and partner Tyler Lawson of Orange, Damian Mann of Virginia Beach, VA, Jaime Mann of Vidor, Lauryn Livermore and husband Nick of Nederland, Texie Freeman of Vidor, Sophia Hodges of Dewy, AZ, Lyric Barnes and husband Richard of Little Rock, AR, Sarah Mann of Vidor, Seath Barber of Vidor, and Natalie Mann of Vidor; his 4 great-grandchildren, a host of friends, bonus grandchildren, numerous loved ones, and of course his beloved dogs Bonnie and Lil’ Red.

Preceding Tommy in death are his parents, Eva Jo (Ward) Shelander and Leisel “Lee” Truman Shelander.

To honor Tommy’s life, the family will have a time of visitation on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main Lumberton, TX 77657, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Final Military Honors taking place at 7:00 PM. Tommy will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery honoring his service to our country at a private family ceremony.
