Lamar State College Orange (LSCO) will soon open applications for the $521,660 in emergency financial aid available to students via the CARES Federal Economic Stimulus package.
Applications will be available from May 1 to May 15 at lsco.edu.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed by Congress in early April and the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund within the Act has provisions to help students who suffered financial hardship due to the coronavirus.
The application requires students to describe how they have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and how they will use the funds, if they receive them.
“We understand just how important this funding is for our students during this challenging time,” LSCO President Dr. Thomas Johnson said. “We want to make the application and disbursement process as fast and simple as possible to help our wonderful students.”
Students who meet the eligibility criteria will be awarded a minimum of $500, pending availability of funds. Students will be notified via their LSCO student email of their awarded status on or before May 27, 2020. If approved, emergency financial aid funds will be disbursed to LSCO students through the direct deposit information on file with the college or mailed to the students’ addresses on file.
The full list of qualifications will be available at the application site.
