Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Tricia Stroud

Hello beautiful people. I am wrapping up my Easter Sunday with a little project that will hopefully brighten your day. After a slight delay, I was able to complete my small table project. Color is a wonderful way to bring your space to life. If you prefer neutral colors for your walls, and want to experiment with color, you can start with a small piece of furniture. Remember paint can always be updated. The commitment to paint is temporary so go bold and see what you like. You might be surprised.

Choosing a color can be difficult if you are indecisive. I have tendencies to be indecisive at times and at other times I am very decisive. Your favorite color is an excellent place to start or you can explore contrasting colors. You can google what colors are contrasting to give you a starting place. If your furniture has hardware, you will need to take the finish on the hardware into consideration in comparison with the color of the furniture.

The piece I refinished this week was an inexpensive piece. It was not solid wood and it was dark in color.  I have stated before that chalk paint is a great way to go with these types of pieces.  You don’t want to have to sand a piece that is made out of pressed board. The chalk paint will give you full coverage and the only prep work will be to clean the piece before painting it.  I ventured out on this piece and went with a color I would not typically have chosen.  It’s Easter and Spring so why not go with a little sunshine. This piece will sit in a room with gray walls and I have become very fond of gray and yellow together.

I hope you are inspired to try something new. Paint is replaceable so have fun! If you have found yourself with an abundance of time during these times, take advantage of completing projects and decluttering. Don’t turn down your sense of bold. Turn it up.
