To help raise awareness of heart disease, a citywide event is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday at Lamar State College-Orange.

The event will provide information on heart disease, mental illness, and cancer.

Also available will be hands only CPR training, healthy cooking/smoothie demonstrations, exercise, and walk (honoring survivors and recognized those who have WON their battle with any type of cardiovascular disease).

Dr. Clare, of VA Houston, will discuss stroke prevention.

Everything at the event will be free.

“There will be several agencies there,” Deborah Mitchell said. “As well as someone talking about Parkinson’s’ disease.”

A 1K and 3K walk will also take place that morning.
