155th Anniversary

Salem United Methodist Church at, 402 W John Ave in Orange, will hold a special service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23 to honor the church celebrating its 155th anniversary. All are invited.

Good Shepherd Church Gumbo Meal

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 945 W. Roundbunch Road in Bridge City will be having Gumbo Meals Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Gumbo is $9.50, a frozen quart is $12 and a frozen pint is $6. Dine in, take out and delivery. Lenten Fish Fry

St. Francis of Assisi, Knights of Columbus Council 13825 is selling fish dinners in the San Damiano Center (behind the Church) located at 4300 Meeks Drive from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the following Lenten Fridays:  February 28, March 6, March 13, March 20, March 27 and April 3. Dinner includes two pieces of fish, french fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, drink and dessert for $10.

Samaritan’s Closet

Samaritan’s Closet is open each Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 1009 Mill Street in Orange. Helping in the community with new and like-new clothing, cleaning supplies, toiletries and more.

OASIS

Older Adults Sharing In Service (OASIS), at Orange Church of God on 16th Street, is at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. Older adults participate in community service projects, exercise, music, puzzles, devotions, games, intergenerational fellowship, and cognitive stimulation during the four-hour sessions. Currently, the church is accepting registration from those interested. Orange Church of God is located at 1911 North 16th Street in Orange. Mt. Olive Baptist Church hosts Feed the Hungry from 12 Noon – 1 p.m. each Thursday at the Rosa Watson Kitchen located at 106 West Park Ave., in Orange.

Temple Emanuel Sisterhood Celebrates 32nd Annual Deli-Day

Beaumont, Texas – The “Deli Dolls” of Temple Emanuel Sisterhood are in the kitchen preparing New York style Deli lunches complete with their famous cheesecakes for the 32nd Annual Deli Day.

Delivery of Deli Day lunches to your business, organization or home will take place on Wednesday, March 4 (for orders of 10 or more), or guests can dine-in with friends or drive-thru pick up on Thursday, March 5 at Temple Emanuel in Downtown Beaumont from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Deli Day meal is typical New York delicatessen fair and includes a turkey or corned beef sandwich on rye bread, a bag of potato chips, Kosher dill pickle and Temple Emanuel Sisterhood’s famous coleslaw.  Trays for 10 or more sandwiches are available and tickets, which are on sale now, are $12 per meal. Deli Day is also synonymous with cheesecake! Whole cheesecakes are $30 and half are $20.

For 32 years, Deli Day has brought the community together in Beaumont’s only Jewish synagogue to enjoy a wonderful meal with friends while raising money for local charities and supporting Temple Emanuel’s Love Thy Neighbor initiative. It is a truly delicious and winning combination.
