To The Leader

Another new member for Orange AAUW (American Association of University Women) is Beth Holmes of Orange.  Her good friend, Rosie Hurst of Orange and AAUW member congratulates Holmes on her membership.

Other new AAUW members include Katie Berry, Marcia Brown, Illianay Espritusanto, Jennifer Fleming, and Krispen Walker, all of Orange, and Karen Johnson of Bridge City.

This makes a total of seven new members in the group’s 70th year in Orange, forming in 1949.

AAUW also recognizes the 100th anniversary of U.S. women gaining voting rights through the 19th Amendment.

AAUW promotes equity for all women and girls, through advocacy, research, encouragement of lifelong education, and positive societal change.  In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership.

The local Orange chapter provides two academic scholarships and a banquet for winners and two adults in winner’s family, donates books to North Early Learning Center, recognizes an Orange County Library Family of the Year in conjunction with the City of Orange Library, conducts a monthly book club called Book-Ins, and enjoys a Galloping Gourmet Supper Club, traveling to various restaurants in the Golden Triangle area.
