The Kingdom Zoo Wildlife Center will host “Pinehurst Family Christmas” 5:30-8 p.m. Sat. Dec. 7 at West Park on West Park Ave. in Pinehurst.

“This will be a simple, fun family event reflecting Christmas values and shared traditions,” said Lisa Moore of Kingdom Zoo Wildlife Center.

The event will feature traditional Christmas animals like baby sheep and goats as well as a few of the facility’s “cute and cuddly” exotics.

“Our popular prairie dogs, hedgehogs, ferrets and maybe a few other special animals will make an appearance for photo ops and to greet people,” Moore said.

The event will include caroling, hot chocolate for the public as well as free Christmas goodie bags for the kids.

“Our facility is based in Pinehurst and we wanted to do something special for local families for Christmas and in collaboration with the City of Pinehurst officials to honor their hard work for the community. It’s time to get back to simpler values this time of year and that is what this is all about,” Moore said.

Chester Moore will be doing a special reading of his new Christmas children’s book “Bingo the Christmas Dingo” that tells the heartwarming story of a dingo adopted by Santa.

“It’s a story about adoption and love. We adopted our daughter and I thought it would be fun to take animals and Santa and tell a unique story about adoption that also ties in wildlife conservation,” he said.

“We will also be debuting a special animated storybook version of the book and we will be giving away free downloads of at the event. We couldn’t be more excited,” Moore said.
