Beatrice Orta Chesson

Beatrice Orta Chesson, 72, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 23, 2019, in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Melvin Payne of St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 1:30 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on September 18, 1947, she was the daughter of Martin Maldonado Orta and Carmen (Fernandez) Orta. Beatrice graduated from Lutcher-Stark High School in 1967. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church and served in the Altar Society. Beatrice was an inspirational woman who survived breast cancer and touched many lives. She was renowned for her homemade tortillas and brownies. Beatrice had loved Elvis Presley since she was a young girl and considered herself a super-fan. She was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver to her loved ones. Beatrice will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Carmen Orta; and her siblings, Lucita Orta, Carmen Huckabay, Martin Orta, Pedro Orta, and Connie Kessler.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Albert Chesson; her children, Dorothy “Dottie” Way of Orange, and Michael “Mike” Chesson and wife DeeAnna of Orange; her grandchildren, Ariel Chesson and Dave Keating, Eric Chesson, Daniel Chesson and wife Hillary, Joseph Way, Jacob Way, and Austin Chesson; her siblings, Rosita Reid, Alicia Blanchard and husband Elvin, Felix Orta and wife Cheryl, Raul Orta and wife Catarina, Alejandro Orta, Mary Grimes, and Roberto Orta, Sr. and wife Mary; as well as her 4 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Grimes, Benjamin Orta, Jason Ayers, Nicholas Ayers, Jeff Koob, Bobby Orta Jr., James Grimes, and Cody DeRoche.
