UPDATED: Schools, city announcing closures for Friday

All West Orange – Cove schools will be closed on Friday, Sept. 20. After school activities are also cancelled for Friday — this includes the varsity football game. Students and employees should not report for work or classes on Friday.

Lamar State College Orange will also be closed.

In a press release sent by the school it stated:

Out of an abundance of caution for our students, faculty, and staff, LSCO will remain closed Friday, September 20.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with our Gator family affected by this storm.

“So that our faculty, staff, students can focus on their families LSCO will be closed again tomorrow,” President Dr. Thomas Johnson said.

Orangefield ISD is cancelling classes for Friday September 20.

Little Cypress Mauriceville school district has canceled classes for Friday, September 20. Parents will be notified by school messenger, Facebook, and local media if there are any changes to class schedules for Monday.

Bridge City ISD has canceled classes for Friday.

Vidor ISD schools are closed until further notice.

All non-essential City of Orange offices will be closed Friday, September 20, 2019, due to rainfall amounts and flooded roadways.
Citizens are encouraged to not drive down flooded roads unless absolutely necessary and to be aware of any debris in the roadway. Be alert for snakes and wildlife that may be displaced as a result of flooding.
City officials are continuing to monitor the current weather situation and will post information when available to Facebook at Orange Texas Gov and online at www.orangetexas.net.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) offices in Jefferson and Orange counties remain closed today, September 20.  DPS officials will continue to monitor the conditions in Southeast Texas following the devastating flooding caused by Tropical Depression Imelda.
