Sleep In Heavenly Peace announces new chapter in Beaumont

First United Methodist Church -Beaumont located at 701 Calder, is hosting a new chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) a 501c(3) organization.

SHP was started in 2012, and at the end of 2018 had built and delivered over 8400 beds, complete with bedding and ready to sleep in. With 137 Chapters in 40 States and growing, SHP’s goal for 2019 is to build and deliver 10,000 beds in 2019 to kids between 3 & 17 that don’t have a bed of their own.

SHP’s goal is “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in our Town”. The local chapter will be delivering beds in Jefferson, Orange, and eastern Hardin Counties.

An Open House and Volunteer Build Day is scheduled at 10 a.m. for Saturday, March 30 at the FUMC Annex building located at 250 Broadway in downtown Beaumont (across Main St from the Fire Museum).
