Golden K Kiwanis meeting

Golden K Kiwanis meets every Wed. from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the meeting room of the Salvation Army Building, corner of MLK and Strickland, across from the Shell and fire station.  The public is welcome to attend, and coffee is always served. Dawn Burleigh, editor of The Orange Leader newspaper, will be the guest speaker.

 

Thursday, Feb. 21

Help with Harvey Repairs

Free informational seminar from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Bridge City Bank located at 701 West Roundbunch Road in Bridge City. To ensure seating, RSVP at 409-735-3516. The goal of these services is to change the community and bring hope to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. It will cover evaluating damaged property, providing environmental reviews, preparing plans, specifications, and job cost estimates and administering construction oversight. This is not a loan program offered by Bridge City Bank. LISC and the American Red Cross fund this program.

 

Friday, Feb. 22

Insights Lunch and Look

Stark Museum of Art Curator Sarah E. Boehme will discuss how art and life intersected for artist Joseph Henry Sharp from 12 Noon 0 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at the museum located at 601 Green Avenue in Orange. Admission is free. The talk will be beased on an essay she has written for a forthcoming publication The Life & Art of Joseph Henry Sharp. Participants are welcomed to bring their own brown bag lunch. Coffee service will be provided throughout the presentation.

 

Mardi Gras Motor Parade

Mardi Gras Motor Parade starts at 6 p.m. at the Riverfront Pavilion in downtown Orange. After the parade a free concert at 7:30 p.m. featuring Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band.

 

Saturday, Feb. 23

Cooking Class for adults

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Orange County is holding a Cooking Class for Adults with Rocky Bridges.  This will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 10 a.m. and costs $25.  You will be having fun while cooking healthy recipes and preparing a 3 course meal.  There will also be door prizes.  Payment is due by February 15.  It will be held at the Orange County Extension Office on 1442 in Orange.  Make your reservations today by calling 409-882-7010 as the class size is limited!
