He lived his life in faith and with integrity, never afraid to speak his mind, and a rock those around him depended on. A wonderful and devoted provider for his family, and as a holder of the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, a firm believer in education, he put all five of his children through college and graduate school. Dr. McIntire grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana, but lived in Orange, Texas for the past 58 years. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II  (1944-1946) as a Lieutenant (jg) and was Executive Officer of LSM (R) 412. He always considered those experiences as formative of his character and values. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church since it was organized in 1978, and also a member of American Chemical Society, University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumnus and Ohio State University Alumnus. Many people remember him working on a veritable fleet of vehicles, a task he enjoyed and was good at. His memory for sports history and old movies was encyclopedic, and his favorite movies were old westerns from his youth in the 1930s.
