Fiction or non-fiction?

All books are either non-fiction or fiction.

Non-fiction books contain factual information, such as biographies and history books.

Fiction books contain a story which was made up by the author.

Perhaps some of their elements are based on hints of truth, but they have been elaborated, fabricated, and used to embellish into a new story. These two types of books can be further divided into many different sub-types, called “genres.”

Genres could be Science fiction, Drama, Romance, Mystery, Horror, Religion, Spirituality, History, Comics, Biographies, Autobiographies or Fantasy just to name a few.

Why do people read books? There are several reasons. I’ve listed ten reasons I agree with as to why we should read “a book” at least 30 minutes a day. They are, mental stimulation, stress reduction, knowledge, vocabulary development, memory improvement, strengthen analytical thinking skills, improve focus and concentration, better writing skills, tranquility and entertainment.

Let’s take this same concept and look at reading this way.

“And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

If our lives are the only bibles that people might read, would the bible be classified as fiction or non-fiction? Because of our lives, would the bible be further relegated to a drama, comic, horror, fantasy or mystery? In reading our lives would it help those who are reading us to reduce stress, have tranquility, strengthen analytical thinking skills, improve focus and concentration?

The Word of God dwelt among us full of grace and truth. In studying and applying the Word of God through the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can support and confirm the Word of God as non-fiction.

Our lives will contain factual information. We will be walking, breathing, human life form biographies of the grace and truth of God. In a library or a book store, books are grouped together based on their classification. What section would your life be in?

Look at it this way. Barnes and Nobles can carry Lifeway. But Lifeway can’t carry Barnes and Nobles.

Again, if our lives are the only bibles people may read. How would they classify us? Spiritual or Sci-Fi?
