Growth at LSCO Spurs Two Graduation Ceremonies

The largest number of graduates Lamar State College-Orange has ever had will walk across the stage later this month in two separate graduation ceremonies.

More than 200 graduates will receive their diplomas, certificates, and institutional awards during the two ceremonies on December 14, 2018, at the Lutcher Theater in downtown Orange. One ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. Graduates will be divided by program of study.

Historically, LSCO has held one graduation ceremony  — with the exception of August 2018 when two graduation ceremonies were held in the Shahan Events Center on campus because the Lutcher Theater was closed for repairs.

With the enrollment growth on campus, this semester’s large graduating class required an additional ceremony to facilitate graduates as well as all of their supporters.

Campus president, Dr. Thomas Johnson, said this is a great example of the growth at LSCO.

“As president, I will strive to do all we can at LSCO to ensure our students receive a great education as well as provide a memorable commencement to celebrate the reaching of an education milestone,” he said.

Graduating students will receive information from Student Services about which ceremony they are assigned to.
