To The Leader

When the Family Life Center of First United Methodist Church was built the congregation never knew that it would become “the church.”

After the rest of the church’s buildings were devastated with eighteen inches of flood waters from Huricane Ike in 2008, the whole church was moved into the Family Life Center. Over the next three years the building served as the church office.

The building is used for fellowship, youth and adult classes, Bible study, youth activities and worship.

We celebrate all those who gave to make this building possible the Slade and Malloy Foundations, Ann Olliff and Pete and Janice Gresham whose gift of $750,000 made it possible to pay off our mortgage and burn the note.

To celebrate the gift we have named the education building The Greaham Education Building in honer of Janice Gresham a long time educator and member of the Chancel Choir housed in that building.

Helping us celebrate this milestone was Bishop Scott Jones and his wife Mary Lou.
