Belated anniversary I missed my sister’s 50th wedding anniversary last Friday, August 24th.  They were married in 1968.  Congratulations Laura (Dixon) Cavin and my brother-in-law Lynn Cavin.

(1) The Vernon Historical and Genealogical Association will hold it’s September meeting on September 1, 2018 at 12:30PM at the Vernon Parish Library, Meeting Room.  Guest speakers will be Sharon Wolf, Assistant Archivist and Mary Linn Wernet, Archivist, Cammie G. Henry Research Center Northwestern State University.  The presentation will be “The Watson Library’s Use of Social Media and How the VHGS Can Use It Too”. If you plan on bringing a refreshment, please let the group know so there is no duplication of effort. (3)The Angelina County Genealogical Society is honored to sponsor the Happy 136th Birthday Lufkin! Celebration on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 8 a.m. to noon in the City Council Chambers in the Lufkin City Hall on 300 West Shepherd Ave. in downtown Lufkin, Texas (75904).  At 8 a.m. Mount Enterprise resident John Langston will discuss “Brick Collecting.”  At 9 a.m. Pineland native Wayne Fults will discuss “1900-1920 Era Coca Cola Bottles.”  At 10 a.m. Dr. Neal Naranjo will discuss “A. B. Jennings and the Coming of the H.E.W.T.
