1 Corinthians 14:8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

Today, I am praying that God would cause His face to shine upon our city and region! That He would bless our city, county, and community leaders with what they need personally, with wisdom for leading, and with courage for the challenging times. I’ve seen images of the orange groves that once filled the city and I can only imagine how beautiful those images would have been in person. I am praying that God will make our city even more beautiful than it is now! We spend a lot of time praying for our city, so I am asking that you all will remember our families when you pray, as well. Thank you.

When I think about this writing I think about one Summer day with my son, Mark. He was about 7 years old and he came running in the house and said, “Mom, I am getting snacks and drinks for my friends.” I was accustomed to seeing two or three kids hang around, so I didn’t think much of it. Well, he passed through the living room with a case of juices, a box of cakes, and a box of popsicles. So, I stopped him and asked, “How many kids are outside?” I remember looking outside to a large group of boys, and I stepped back in with Mark and told him, “Don’t do this, again.” He argued his reasoning: the kids didn’t have drinks, it was hot, and he didn’t mind sharing. That’s a funny story looking back. My point in sharing that story is because I wanted Mark to be more reserved, more logical, and more frugal. I didn’t want anyone taking advantage of him, but I learned he was doing exactly what he wanted to do. That’s who He is.

The scripture above implies that an instrument’s sound causes a certain response. It implies that a certain sound causes a certain response. We are often tempted to want others to be like us, but according to this scripture, there is purpose for every distinguished, different sound. I want to encourage you to be who you are. If you are a giver, give; lover, love; speaker, speak, gatherer, gather; singer, sing; writer, write. At the moment I wanted to change Mark God encouraged me to “Let Mark be!” There is great purpose for your design, make the sound you are designed to make by being the best version of you. People are waiting to hear you. Your sound makes a great difference in our community. Don’t underestimate your sound. Kingdom Blessings!
