Joseph Bishop Stevens, Jr., 91, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on November 6, 2017, in The Woodlands.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Jerry McNeil. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orange, Texas.

Visitation will be from at 2 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.

Born in Marshall, Texas, on March 3, 1926, he was the son of Joseph Bishop Stevens, Sr. and Laurie Louise Vinson. Joseph loved his Lord, his family and gardening. He graduated from Lamar University and also attended the University of Houston. Joseph was truly a jack of all trades and always stayed busy. Grass didn’t have the chance to grow beneath his feet. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. Joseph was known for his vivid storytelling, and his great sense of humor. He kept his laugh and sense of humor until the very end. He was a true Galatians 5:22-23 man. He honorably served in the Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. Joseph will be dearly missed by all those who came to know and love him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Jean Stevens; twin brother, Vinson Stevens; brothers, Orrin Battle, Bracey Battle, Burton Battle; and sisters, Louise Burke, Rose Attebury, Virginia DeWare and Margaret Klinck.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph B. Stevens, III and wife Nancy, Matthew Stevens and wife Cheryl; daughters Linda Montagne and husband Kevin, and Jane Jimerson and husband Joe; nephew, Byron Battle;  nieces, Diane Bumpus and Laura Hall; grandchildren, Stephanie Zoanni and husband Rick, Brandon Montagne, Sarah Bassett and husband Justin, Matthew Stevens, Jr., and wife Lindsay, Heather Childress and husband Kyle, Rebekah Stevens, and Nancy Jo Stevens; and great grandchildren, Makinzi, Logan, Justin, Kylher, and Macy.
