Orange County softball bidistrict playoffs all set

The Class 4A Region III softball playoffs will get in high gear this week as the Bridge City Lady Cardinals, Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears and the Orangefield Lady Bobcats will be busy trying to get to the area round.

The District 22-4A champion Lady Cardinals (23-4-1, 9-1) will take on the Jasper Lady Bulldogs (14-14-1, 3-5), the fourth-place team out of District 21-4A, in a one-gamer Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Jasper High School.

The District 22-4A runnerup Lady Bears (18-6-1, 8-2) will also head to Jasper in a best-of-three series. The Lady Bears will face the Diboll Lady Jacks (15-9-2, 4-4) in Game One Friday at 8 p.m. Game Two is slated for noon on Saturday with Game Three, if necessary, to follow 30 minutes after Game Two.

The Lady Bobcats (12-10, 5-5), the fourth-place team out of 22-4A, will take on the 21-4A champion Lufkin Lady Hornets (23-6, 7-1) at 6 p.m. Friday at Jasper High School.

In the Class 5A bidistrict playoffs, the Vidor Lady Pirates (13-11-2), the fourth-place team out of 22-5A, will take on the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles (28-3), 21-5A champions, in a best-of-three series. Game One will be at Vidor Thursday at 6 p.m. Game Two will be Friday at 5 p.m. with Game Three to follow if necessary.
