The Orange Leader
West Orange Stark High school, Lamar State College Orange, and Impact Orange partnered to bring a group of youth from the high school to Lamar State Orange, in an attempt to help ease or relieve the intimidation many students face when in transition both campuses and former students have decided to go the extra mile.
Students, 40 in all, were able to tour the campus, meet department heads, degree program heads and local leaders on Thursday.
“These are students who may not have considered college as an option,” Pastor Denise Ledet said. “This is to help ease the ease the intimidation of attending college.”
Area leaders who attended were City Councilman, Larry Spears; School Board Candidate and B.U.S.Y. Co-Director Kianna Edwards-Brooks; Former NFL player and WOS graduate Giles Cole; and City Council Candidate Mary Ekene.
Impact Orange is under the leadership of Pastor Denise Ledet.
