Special to The Leader
Jennifer Restauri is the 2016 winner of the Texas Art Education Association Outstanding Art Educator Award, Museum Education Division for her significant contributions to TAEA and to art education in state, local and/or national level. Jennifer traveled to Dallas, Texas in November 2016 to the TAEA Award Ceremony.
Jennifer Restauri’s official title at the Stark Museum of Art is Curator of Education, but she has been much more than that to the staff she oversees and with whom she works. Jennifer is always an advocate for students and visitors. Learning about and creating art are two things Jennifer is passionate about bringing into the community and into the schools.
Among the many programs Jennifer has created and implemented, she is most proud of the positive impact the Juried Student Art Exhibition competition has had on our community. This exhibition allows around 500 students to display their artwork at the Stark Museum of Art.
Students love and connect with her warmth and kindness in the classroom and her ability to make art approachable for apprehensive adults and novices is noteworthy. Jennifer strives for her visitors to have the best possible visit they can have when they visit the Stark Museum of Art. For Jennifer, the experience is what counts.
TAEA strives to honor hard working supporters and membership through recognition of their continued efforts and significant achievements in education.
Stark Museum of Art is located at 712 Green Avenue in Orange, Texas, and is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday.
