Special to The Leader

Mauriceville Elementary third graders were visited by several business and community people on Thursday, November 17, for a Career Day. Each shared a bit about their profession with the students and took questions, some entertaining or surprising the visitors.  Constable David Cagle thought he might mistakenly have gone to a job interview when one third grader asked, “What are your qualifications for the job?”

The students were well prepared for the visit and enjoyed the guests who took their time to share their personal story with each class. Speakers in addition to Constable Cagle included Barry Burton – County Commissioner, Charlie Cox – Department of Emergency Management,

Kim Jowell, RN, BSN – nursing, Jamie Ezernack – Engineer with International Paper, Sean Shehane – Air Force, Kim Levens – LCM High School cosmetology teacher, Don Schmitt – owner of a local trucking company and Mr. Burton – Owner of Burton’s Boat Shop.
