Special to The Leader

Papa Noël (a.k.a Santa Claus) and his quick-footed alligators will be heading down the Sabine to kick off the holiday season for the Kiwanis Club’s 87th Orange “Cajun” Christmas Parade.

The lighted parade, being held in memory of the late Ben Culpepper, Jr., will include floats, bands, and dance teams from area schools, businesses, and organizations featuring music, costumes, and lighted displays in the Cajun culture tradition. Parade entry forms can be downloaded here or can be picked up at the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

Laissez le bons temps rouler with the parade starting at the MacArthur Drive Shopping Center at 6:00 p.m. where Steve Jones will preside as Grand Marshal.

Child pick-up is in the Lutcher Theater Parking Lot off of 5th Street.

On the day of the parade, come “pass you a good time” and treat yourself to some of the best Cajun cuisine around, Larry David’s hot gumbo! Other food, treats, and drinks will be available for purchase.

Balloons, bounce houses, and kid’s crafts will take place on 7th Street starting at
5:30 p.m. and ending at 9:00 p.m.

Following the parade, come party downtown with Papa Noël in his pirogue! All of the good girls and boys can take pictures with him and tell him what they want for Christmas!

At 8:00 p.m., the parade awards ceremony will take place near the judge’s stand in front of City Hall.

The City of Orange will host the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at City Hall where Mayor Jimmy Sims will light the Christmas tree, donated by Corporate Sponsor, International Paper. For more information, visit the Kiwanis Club’s Facebook Page.

The Kiwanis Club of Orange, Texas, is looking forwarding to celebrating a Joyeaux Noël with the community.
