Senate Robert Nichols, Texas State Senator addressed a crowd of about 200 Thursday. The event, a groundbreaking for the Multipurpose Educational Building, was on the campus of Lamar State College – Orange. Joining Nichols was State of Texas Representative Dade Phelan. Phelan and Nichols were instrumental in orchestrating the project through the legislative and budgeting process for final approval. Dr. J. Michael Shahan introduced both men offering the gratitude of the campus and community for their support in this project. The groundbreaking was held inside the student center on the Lamar State College – Orange campus due to excessive rain in the area.
