Joycelyn was born in Grand Chenier Louisiana at the old Doxey home in 1931 to Myrtle Ida Doxey Peveto and Edgar Henry Peveto. She was the last descendant born in this historical home. She moved to Orange Texas at a young age during World War II  where she attended Orange Stark high school. After graduation, she attended Orange Business school and worked at Consolidated Western. She loved to dance.  She met her husband, James Clinton Young of Newton Texas at a dance in Cow Bayou and they were married January 31st, 1953.  They eventually moved to the Houston area and finally settling down in Hockley Texas.  Several generations of young people enjoyed her hospitality and loving nature.  Once the first grandchild was born, she assumed the role of Mee Mee with every bit of her being. She simply adored being a grandmother and was involved in anything and everything and she could be. One could not have asked for a better mother or Mee Mee.

Joycelyn enjoyed spending time with friends and family over a cup of coffee. She loved listening to the waves at the beach, eating seafood and loving on the grand babies, great grand babies and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
