Norma Lee McLellan, 59, wife,  mother, book lover, soccer fan, Texas Aggie, dancer, lover of ballet, and blunt critic of insincerity, died quietly while surrounded by her family, of complications from cancer, on July 10, 2015.

A native of Orange, Texas, Norma served as a twirler at Lutcher-Stark High School, graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M in 1978, lived a professional life as a CPA, and later served as controller of her husband’s business.  While a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, she helped found the St. Anne Society (a group for mothers), and led the Society’s book club for many years.

In the time after her cancer diagnosis, she was driven by the idea that “It’s all about the people.” Her greatest source of pride was always her two sons, Geoffrey and Johnny, in whom she inspired her love of books. During her years as a homeschooling mom, she also passed on to them a thirst for learning. Predeceased by paternal grandmother, Ettie “Granny” McLellan, and aunt, Barbara “Sissy” McLellan, Norma is survived not only by her sons, but also her husband, Bill Pribyl; sister, Sue; brothers, Robert, Brent, and Clark; father, Clark Norman “Bones” McLellan, and stepmother, Kay McLellan.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family starting at six o’clock in the evening with a Rosary at seven o’clock on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama St., Houston.  The funeral mass is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3617 Milam St., Houston with Brother Ian Bordenave, O.P. officiating.  The Rite of Committal will follow.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests donations in her memory to one of her favorite charities, the Christian Community Service Center (www.ccschouston.com), 3230 Mercer, Houston, Texas 77027.
