Sister Florence Dean (McGhee) Reed

Sister Florence Dean (McGhee) Reed was born on May, 24, 1937 in Bonita, Louisiana, to the late Johnnie and Viola Mcghee. She grew up in St. Joe’s Methodist Church. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, and she was baptized. She graduated from Bonita High School where she played volleyball and ran track, she was an outstanding student.
December 10, 1956, she married Johnnie Reed, Sr. they later moved to Orange Texas, where she has resided since then, she later worked for Brown Bowling Center as a Child Caregiver, and the kids loved Mrs. Reed, and would always be excited to come to the nursery while the parents went bowling. Mrs. Florence Reed worked as a Volunteer at Orange Memorial Hospital helping to assisted patients.
From the union of Johnnie and Florence Reed came seven children. The Children included Larry Darnell Reed (Faye); Theresa A Reed; Jerrie R Curtis; Jimmy Thomas Reed; Johnnie L. Reed, Jr; Vicki L. Phillips (Apostle Larry). Married for Fifty eight years, they were blessed with ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Leave to Cherish host of Nephews and Nieces and many cousins, friends.
The family united with El Bethel Baptist Church, under Rev Troy. She was an usher at the church, as well as a member of the Heroines of Jericho, She made sure that all Seven of the kids were baptized at an early age, and attended Sunday school and Church faithful. She was a faithful member of El Bethel and dearly loved her church. Also delighted in Bowling, baking, shopping and praying and reading Gods Word.
Even in sickness she praise God and never wavered in her faith and devotion. She never gave up. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Viola (Brown)  McGhee; her siblings and oldest daughter Betty Jean  Reed Geter.
God called Mother Florence Dean( McGhee)Reed home on June 17,2015. She leave her beautiful spirit and cherished memories in the hearts of her large loving family and her many, many friends. She will always be remembered through her children and their children.  May God give her a  stone with a new name. We, love, but God loved her first and called her back unto his loving arms.

Sister Florence Reed’s homegoing service will be at El Bethel Baptist Church, 704 12th Street, Orange, TX, Saturday June 27th at 12:00 noon.  Pastor Reverend Rickey Guillory will officiate.
