OCSP Special Angels Rodeo gives to area schools
Special to The Leader —
Representatives of the Orange County Sheriff’s Posse Special Angels Rodeo visited campuses in six area school districts, prior to the end of the school year, with a great surprise.
Each of the districts, which included Vidor ISD, Orangefield ISD, Bridge City ISD, Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD, West Orange-Cove CISD, and Deweyville ISD, received a check for $665 from the Special Angels Rodeo for their respective programs which serve students who qualify for participation in the November event. The only stipulation for the funds that were donated to the schools is that they must be used for a fun day or activity for the students in those programs.
Some of the schools planned to use the funds for end of the year activities, while others are planning to use the money for fun activities to kick off the 2015-2016 school year. The Special Angels Organizers said they felt extremely blessed to be able to raise as much money as they have in the past year and to have had such a successful event in their first year. They wanted to give to these districts to make ensure special angels participants and the other students in these programs could have a fun day that was planned for and geared to them.
The OCSP Special Angels Rodeo, which is a project of the Orange County Sheriff’s Posse, is the premier adaptive sports rodeo event in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. The 2nd Annual OCSP Special Angels Rodeo will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at the Sheriff’s Posse Arena located at 6610 FM 105 in Orange. This free event is open to special needs individuals of all ages from Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.
