Dudley Joseph “DJ” Landry, Jr.
Vinton- Dudley Joseph “DJ” Landry, Jr., 69, died Thursday, June 17, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Dudley was a native of Vinton where he had a family rice and bean farming business. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He also enjoyed riding horses, loved gardening and working in his yard. He was a 1963 graduate of Vinton High School. He retired from Lanxess Corp of Orange, Texas in 2007. He was a private man who lived and died faithful to his God and his family. DJ will be remembered as a good son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Jean Barrett Landry of Vinton; two sons, Richard Landry and fiancé, Jane Grant of Carlyss, and John Landry and wife, Nichole of Mont Belvieu, Texas; two daughters, Regina Tobias and husband, Jon of League City, Texas, and Justa Smith and fiancé, Larry Darsam of Broussard; a brother, Eldridge “Ponk” Landry of Carlyss; three sisters, Sylvia Gaudet and husband, Mickey of Sulphur, Gloria Dyer Lormond and husband, Donald of Orange, Texas, and Judy Vincent Goodner and husband, Bob of Carlyss; father-in-law, Roy J. Barrett of Starks; sister-in-law, Nancy Jo Barrett Drake and husband, Quinton of Many; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandsons with a great-granddaughter on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley Landry, Sr. and Viola Landry; mother-in-law, Bessie Lee Perkins Barrett; a brother, Richard “Doc” Landry; brother-in-law, Ernie Dyer; and sisters-in-law, Mona Rae Trahan Landry and Billie Johnson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Vinton. The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Sunday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
