Inviting banners welcoming visitors to the city of Orange can be seen at 16 locations along Green Ave. and 16th Street.

The welcome banners are a just a beginning for the Ivy League Garden Club and the Leaf and Petal Garden Club.

“We want to have more,” Theresa Beauchamp of Ivy League Garden Club said. “There will be 10 more soon. There has to be more to make a real impact.”

The Ivy League Garden Club joined the Leaf and Petal Garden Club in the initiative to make the banners become a reality.

The banners were designed by photographer and graphic artist Melissa Spell of Melrose Imaging.

The banners start at Lamar State College – Orange on Green Ave. and continue along 16th Street to Sunset.

“Stark Foundation donated the brackets and the Garden Clubs donated the first 16 banners,” Beauchamp said. “The city installed them for us and did a great job.”

If one is interested in making a donation or purchasing a banner for in front of their business, contact Beauchamp with a phone number at GFBTAB@gt.rr.com
