Richard E. Gibson

Richard E. Gibson, 81, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, July 17, 2017.

Richard was born August 24, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to Elmer Gibson and Velma Ferrell Gibson.

He was a lifelong area resident and member of First Baptist Church Groves. He retired as an operator from Firestone Plant in Orange, Texas after 36 ½ years of service.

Richard proudly served his country in the National Guard Reserve for 8 years.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Gibson; and sister, Jean Gibson.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Gibson of Groves; daughter, Sharon Abbey of Houston; son, Michael “Mike” Gibson and wife Marioreen of Beaumont; daughter-in-law, Maxine Gibson of Groves, sister, Nancy Ensminger and husband Bob of DeRidder, LA; aunt, Maxine Ferrell; grandchildren, Jason Gibson, Aaron Gibson, Janaye Boyd, Brandon Thibodeaux, Shelley Duplant, Jared Abbey, Micah Gibson, Mariel Gibson; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Dr. Joe Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

A visitation will be on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
