William “Mr. Bill” Loyd

William “Mr. Bill” Loyd, 78, of Bridge City, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Christus DuBuis Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Bunch of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home in Bridge City.

Born in Deep Water, Missouri, on August 11, 1936, Mr. Bill was the son of Noel and Ruth (Osborne) Loyd. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked as an outside machinist supervisor at Levingston Shipbuilding and Gulfport Shipbuilding. Mr. Bill was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City. He coached girls softball and basketball, as well as boys baseball. He served as president of girls softball, vice president of BCYRA, and president of LERA.

Mr. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Loyd of Bridge City; and children, Brian Loyd of Georgetown, Kathie Stephson of Bridge City, Vickie Sanchez of Bridge City, Sherie Jenke and husband Kevin of Seguin, and James Loyd and wife Sue of Buffalo, WY. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his cousin, Charles Cutler and wife June of San Antonio.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Justin Loyd, Christopher Loyd, Adam Sanchez, Jeff Pringle, Braden Davenport, and Tristan Barnes, with Travis Jenke serving as Honorary Pallbearer.

The family would like to thank the staff of DuBuis Hospital, Dr. Keller, Dr. Thome, and Jordan Health Care for their care of Mr. Loyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1155 W. Roundbunch Rd., Bridge City, TX 77611.
