A Beaumont sustained moderate injuries following a three vehicle wreck on Friday afternoon.

Sylvester Hill of Beaumont was transported by medical helicopter to a Beaumont area hospital following a three vehicle wreck at approximately 1:30 p.m., Friday at the intersection of State Highway 12 and State Highway 62 in Mauriceville.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Hill was traveling east on Highway 12 in a 2010 Chevrolet utility van when he collided with the back of a 2013 Freightliner flatbed truck, which was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 62.

Hill, 50, suffered several broken bones and a large cut on his forehead. However, DPS officials stated his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.

The driver of the Freightliner truck, 57-year-old Michael Lopez of Beaumont, was not injured in the collision.

Debris from the impact of the wreck struck a 2015 Chevrolet pickup which was stopped in the outside lane of Highway 12. The driver, 46-year-old Joseph Guidry of Vidor, was not injured.

Troopers with the DPS are still investigating the incident and what contributing factors led to the collision.
