FRANCES MARION WALLER SYFAN

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at a 10:00 AM Service in Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette for Frances Marion Waller Syfan, 95, who died on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her family.

Entombment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Reverend Susan Ferguson of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette will officiate the services. Dr. Lee Cooke, vocalist, accompanied on the organ by Jan Cooke, will sing for the services, “Amazing Grace”, “The Lord’s Prayer” and “In The Garden”.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Frank Syfan, Jr.; three grandchildren, Tiffany Syfan, Courtney Lyons and Coby Denham; and three great grandchildren, River Denham, Avery Denham and Haleigh Gootee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edwards Syfan, Sr.; and her parents, Francis M. Waller and Maude Wagnon Waller.

Frances Marion Waller Syfan was born in Beaumont, Texas and was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of her life. She graduated from Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas, and moved to Lafayette to begin her career in real estate. Mrs. Syfan was a realtor for Van Eaton and Romero and Hershell Colvin for many years before her retirement. She was an avid bridge player, very competitive and entered several bridge tournaments throughout her life. She enjoyed collecting antiques, and owned an antique business in Kerrville, Texas. Mrs. Syfan was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be Coby Denham, Nick Lyons, Harold Chiasson and Morris Hoffpauir.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN Location on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will continue on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 8:00 AM until time of services.
