Margaret Louise Taylor Malone
Margaret Louise Taylor Malone, age 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2020 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Born in Hunt, Texas on May 5, 1929, she was the daughter of Virney James Taylor and Hilda Clara Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Dale Lee of Cowboy Church of Orange County. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Claybar Funeral Home.
After high school, Margaret was a proud graduate of beauty school. She was Circulation Director of the Orange Leader Newspaper in Orange, Texas for many years. She was known as the “Paper Doll” on her CB handle.
Margaret was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2775 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as secretary/treasurer, Local and State President, as well as many other positions throughout the years. Her accomplishments were many, she was awarded the 2018 Certificate of Appreciation by the VFW as a Gold Circle member for her faithful support of America’s Deserving Veterans and their families.
She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and a member of the Former Texas Rangers Association. Margaret’s grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather were Texas Rangers.
Margaret’s greatest joy in life was her eight children. She became a member of Cowboy Church of Orange County, which she loved dearly. She was baptized there on August 28, 2011 by Pastor Dale Lee.
She was always sharing her wit and wisdom with everyone she met. Her hands were never still. She was always of help to any Veteran that needed assistance. Margaret was involved with the Disables American Veterans and the American Legion, as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eugene Taylor; spouse, Gird Malone; daughter, Linda Guillory; great-granddaughter, Anna May Knox; and great-grandson, Ian Marion Mitchell.
She is survived by her brother, Neal Taylor and wife Carolyn; her loving children, son, Dwayne Knox and wife Fay of Swain, Arkansas; son, Brandon Lee Knox and wife Carrie of Green Creek, North Carolina; daughter, Wanda Ragsdale and husband Jimmy Ragsdale, Sr. of Nacogdoches, Texas; son, John David Knox and wife Sally of Deweyville, Texas; son, Phillip Knox and wife Michele of Orange, Texas; daughter, Hilda Bromley and husband Gary of Zavalla, Texas; and daughter, Dana Jordan and husband Jay of Orangefield, Texas.
She is also survived by her loving niece, Elizabeth Houghton and husband Lee; and her 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and deeply touched.
Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Ragsdale, Jr., Sheridan Peschel, Shawn Knox, John D. Knox, Jr., Brian Knox, and Billy Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie E. Prater, Jr., Olin Gallet, Brandon C. Knox, and Jeremy Knox.
