Dennis Jerrell Doggett

Dennis Jerrell Doggett, 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 6, 2018, in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Mr. Gerald Bluhm. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Born in Shelbyville, Texas, on June 7, 1936, he was the son of E.C. Doggett and Sylvia (Dean) Doggett. Dennis worked as a civil engineer at Chevron where he retired after many loyal years. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserve. He was a faithful member of 9th and Elm Church of Christ where he spent time as bible school teacher. Dennis graduated high school from Lutcher Stark High School and went on to be a proud graduate of Lamar University. He was a super fan of West Orange-Stark and even tutored children there in math. He enjoyed spending his spare time watching sports and being with his family. Dennis was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Fara. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Sylvia Doggett; his loving wife, Fara Doggett; brother, Richard Doggett; and sister, Dale June Neil.

He is survived by his nieces, Tonya Crowley and Johnna Neil; along with numerous other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Beauchamp, Joe Hudson, James Berry, Derwin Kirkland, Don Dickerson, Ed Henry. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Baker and Harley Bennett.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the employees of Sabine House for all of their love and care during Mr. Doggett’s stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the West Orange-Stark Project Graduation at 1400 Newton St. Orange, TX 77630.
