Allene M. Cooper Knox

Born January 7, 1930 ~ Died April 2, 2017

Allene M. Cooper Knox born January 7, 1930 to Kirby Cooper Sr. and Lola Bell Southwell Cooper. She was called home to glory on April 2, 2017 at Memorial Herman Hospital of Beaumont, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 of years Richard W. Knox , parents, and siblings Marie Boatner, Jerry Cooper, Emma Bluitt, Henry Cooper, Corine Cooper, Kirby Cooper Jr, and Charlene Morris.

Allene attended school at James Rowe High School were she was valedictorian of her class. Later Allene went on to attend Jarvis Christian College.

In 1948 Allene moved to Orange, TX where she met and married Richard William Knox after one month of dating. This union lasted 65 years until Richard’s death in 2013. From this union one child was born Debra Knox Henson and later they raised one grandchild as their own Richard Mandel Knox. Allene was a member of Saint Paul Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Choir member, mission worker until her health failed her. She enjoyed volunteer work at Orange Christian Services where she served for 34 years and enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by her daughter Debra Knox Henson ( David) , Grandson/Son Richard Mandel Knox ( Petra) , 3 Grandchildren- Amanda Breaux, Ashalyn Seraile ( Daniel ), Manuel Breaux III, 3 sibling- John Wesley Cooper ( Ruby), Lola Bell Johnson, and Mary Jenkins (Leon) ,a devoted care giver Ethel Segura and 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral Services will Saturday at 1:00pm at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church located at 1704 N. 14th street, Orange, TX. Visitation will be from 11:30am – 1:00pm.

Entombment to follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Orange, TX.
